Riveted mine cos its all it came with in the box - DiD X-Ring Gold, Ohhh posh, Ohhh shiney, flash git!
I used the tried and trusted 2 hammers method and I'm happy with the result - so much so that I don't even think about it when riding, which I reckon might not be the case if I had a bit of bent springy steel holding it all together?.......
I went for the rivet by hammer method as above as the DID chain came with it (should have been supplied endless)
Much covered topic in this forum, nothing wrong with a split link (as long as you fit it the right way round) on an AT, maybe better rivetted on a Vara or the more powerful sportsbikes, it seems that home rivetting is just the fashionable method of the moment.
rivet every time and the hammer and punch method works for me too i find these splitter riveter jobbies just dont give me the peace of mind![]()

riveted every time, not 100% behind the hammer over idea as its easy to distort the link or damage the pin inside the link... roll riveted is always best, if you dont like the diy gizmo then either a bike shop or your nearest chainsaw chain repair shop.![]()
Hey look - Dilbert reckons I'm fashionable - theres a first time for everything!
To be honest - thats actually the first time Ive riveted a chain - i usually use a split link, but as it was all it came with on it went........
It seems I'm fashionable too, but then I always used to use a split link when that's all we had.
We had a long post about this ages ago and like Jenna I warned of the dangers of not rivetting properly and taking it to a dealer if you weren't sure, same advice still stands, despite the flack I got, hey like I worry about opinion, if you're going to rivet do it right, otherwise get proffesional help![]()
i have my punch's set up to spread the rivet the same way that a riveter does and that seems to work fine ive seen the damage a badly done chain does ..not pretty![]()
