Yeah, I know - its been done to death, but.....

    .....Tyres!

Its time to get some new boots on Dessi the @.

I was looking at a Tiger the other day - don't worry I was shaking my head throughout the veiwing and spat on the ground as I walked off, but - it had Tourances fitted and the front was a monster compared to mine, (the size escapes me for now), so what is the biggest size I can get on the front on my stock rim?

I'm prolly gonna go down the Tourance route as they seem to be the best for wear/grip based on my 100% on-road travelings at the minute.........

.......... unless of course, you all have a better suggestion?.........

    3 TLD's done, (2009 + 2010 + 2011) - bring on 2012

When they kick at your front door How you gonna come?
With your hands on your head Or on the trigger of your gun
When the law break in How you gonna go?
Shot down on the pavement Or waiting on death row?.............

I do have a better suggestion actually. Fit 'ROAD' tyres of almost any make you want and don't bother with dumbass on/off road tyres which like me you just won't use.

With the extra grip and ability to chuck the bike around you'll wonder why you ever bothered with tyres that may look more appropiate but really are just for looks.

Hi Stageone, The problem with the front tyre is the 21 inch rim, not a lot (if any) of roadtyres are made to fit . have a look at www.conti-tyres.co.uk

Load of b*****ks, there's a pretty good selection available. We're talking an 'Africa Twin' not an R1, Blade, ZX10, that's wanting to do track days right?

Any good quality 'road' tyre will be capable of performing better than the intended capabilities of the bike itself.

I've a Dunlop D607 on the front which is technically an 'on/off' road tyre but is miles better than the Trailwings I had previously. I intended to get the same for the rear two months ago but ended up getting an Avon 'Roadrider' which is Avon's basic general purpose 'road' tyre but which again is way better than any on/off road tyre.

There are plenty of tyres which are 'more road' than these all of which will transform your AT.

Oh yeah. I toured Europe with the D607 on the front (Trailwing on the rear, since replaced with the Avon) and did 5000 miles and have done a further 2000 miles since then and it seems not even half worn yet!

Avons on mine F&R and its great, no problems noted yet. Will be off to Spain in Oct they should be shot time I get back, did like the look (of the price ;o) ) of the tyre in the earlier thread today for possible front replacment.
