    VIBRATION

Here's the problem. Rd07, getting a irritating noise at 5000rpm. This is irrespective of gear selection. There is nothing above or below. When the bike is stationary there is also nothing. I would describe this as a fast noise, but cannot say that it is coming from the engine (in fact I doubt that it is). This is my gut feel but I'm not certain. Unless of course Mr Honda has put at rattly bit on the bike to tell you that you are now on the National speed limit.

    Re: VIBRATION

Well, I don't know why it won't do it not moving, possibly needs to be under load, but I have heard of crash bars having a vibe at certain revs, something to do with harmonics? I'd check all engine mountings and anything mounted to the bike, crash bars and belly pan would be the main culprits. I made my own crash bars for mine and they were a tad close to the belly pan at one point. I thought they'd be ok but the belly pan vibed against them at certain revs. A quick bend with a large bar and problem solved!

    Hope this helps mate.

My Touratech crashbars that were fitted to my RD07 used to vibrate considerably, although silently. They did however cause a fracture to one of the front bashplate mountings that made the bashplate buzz. I've since taken the crashbars off.

Thanks for the replies. I'll take the bits off one at a time and see if the rattle disappears.

my rd07 is exactly the same, cant seem to find the rattle. I havent fitted my engine bars, so its not them, I am thinking of investing in some ruber/plastic washers and putting them all over the bike. I think the noise is coming from the bassh plate, radiator area. Let me know how you get on

Sorted!!!!!!!!! Removed the bashplate and foun chattering marks from the exhaust. Did a bit of gentle reshaping and the problem is now in the history book. A little disappointed that this was not a clever idea from Mr Honda

just had a quick look at mine and can see that the bash plate comes into contact with the exhaust at the back of the bashplate under where the back brake pedal is...is this where you had contact as well and if so, how did you reshape it

    Re: VIBRATION

That is exactly where the problem was. I bent the plate (similar to a lug) where the bashplate attaches on the bottom. I used a large adjustable wrench to get the bend in the right place. You would have to do this with the bashplate removed, then bend the lug in the direction of the engine. This has the effect of creating a bit of clearance, in my case about 5mm. Good luck.

    Re: VIBRATION

Barry, The easier fix, which would not involve removing the bash plate. Remove the bottom bolt and insert a 5mm spacer between the bash plate and the fixing point.
