'lo again.
I stupidly posted question before this at the end of a nearly-dead thread, so I don't know if anyone actually saw it or not, or if a) no-one knows, b) no-one cares, c) no-one is talking to me, or d) all of the above.
So anyway, I hope it's not too annoying to post it again in it's own thread this time, which is what I should have done in the first place.
so...
Does anyone know if RD07 wheels can be used on an RD04? I think the front is the same but I'm not sure, and I know the rears are different - the question is how different...
I do realise that the RD04 rear used a 130/90 on a 2.75 inch rim and the RD07 used a 140/80 on a 3.00 inch rim (I think) so it is probably a stupid question - however it appears there is a lot of clearance around the rear wheel/swingarm, so if the rest of the fittings/dimensions are the same it might fit.
Plus one-quarter of an inch of rim and 130 to a 140 is really not a lot at
all in terms of clearance.
Does anyone know? Has anyone tried?
It just occurred to me that if I could get some "spare" wheels from a breakers I could use those while I sort out the originals, as my RD04 wheels are just starting to "go", and will need sorting soon.
That way I could keep the bike on the road. And since the RD07 was made for a lot longer that the RD04, I thought I'd stand a better chance of finding wheels from the later version, as there must be a lot more RD07s around than 04s.
Cheers all!
