    Question Help no power

Hope some one out there can help. I have a 94 africa twin, all was well now she will not blow the skin of a rice pudding. She starts and ticks over well and seems to rev up, but when you get on it it lacks power and struggles to get to 70,there is no missfire, has clean fuel filters and i have changed the plugs.Anyone got an idea.
    Many Thanks

Have just strippped bike down and had it running without tank on, and hopefully found the problem. One off the carbs not working, have stripped it down and found a spilt in diaphragm.will i have to replace both the pistion and diaphragm?

Starting simple, how old is the petrol and have you tried a fresh tank full?

Is there any smoke from the exhaust?

Replacement Honda diaphragms are only available with a new slide, and are apparently very expensive (think re-mortgage!)

I've heard good reports about these people, so may be worth a try, as you send them your slides and they fit new diaphragms. If you decide to do both, make sure you mark them which one is from which carb.

How long do diaphragms last? Is there anything that wears them out faster?

Having only run fuel injected cars for years before I got my AT, and never doing any work on my other L plate bikes, carbs are all black magic and voodoo to me

    Re: Help no power

Hi Jeff, had a similar problem a couple or 3 years ago. Turned out to be a blockage in the petrol cap. Try and go for a run with the cap off ( use a rag or whataver instead) If it runs OK blow out an squirt WD 40 in every hole u find and it should be OK. if not u haven`t wasted much time giving it a go.
    Good luck. Kevin
