    Before:-

Laser very helpfully put tags on their link pipe to accept the original heat shield. Remus do not. I have had the same problem with putting holes in waterproofs and jeans with my current Remus pipe. The simplest fix would be some of that exhaust wrap that custom builders seem to like. Anyone know where I can get some of that?

I`ve used these guys in the past for stuff for my Celica rally car wannabe. Trouble with the wrap is its not that weather or rub resistant and you need to use really good clamps to secure the ends. I lagged my turbo downpipe then painted it with lots of thinned heatproof paint, it soaks right in and seems to seal it quite well. Its still quite easy to damage it though.
Because of the position of the pipe on the bike I decided that a guard would be best in the long run.

Ingenious and simple. The best kind of solution. I think I'll make me one of those.

what make of heat proof paint did you use, and which type of thinners did you use?

    Re: Exhaust protection

this is probably what you want:

Available in silver or black from
Exhaust Guard for Link Pipe - Silver - Detailed item view - RUGGED ROADS - Honda BMW KTM Motorcycle Accessory

I was going to get one, but then I need some new waterproof trousers anyway, and the ones I liked had a heatproof panel on the bottom on the leg on the inside.
flat out on utterly inappropriate tackle
