Exhaust protection

Hi

My brand new Halvarsson trouser tends to melt when i have my foot down on the ground.
Because it makes contact with the hot exhaust pipe.
See picture.

Any ideas?

Re: Exhaust protection

Hey @lf

Try ROMAtech http://www.romatech.de/shop-english/.../shop-english/

They show an exhaust guard in the main pic, but not on the price list, so send them an email

Re: Exhaust protection

simple make a heat shield like the rdo4 has make it out of st/st or mild steel not ali it transfers heat to good make sure there is as small an area as possible in contact with each other this also cuts dowm on heat transfer or wrap the pipe with exhaust insulation bandage like that used on boat exhaust

Re: Exhaust protection

I had exactly this problem, melted some lovely w/proof trousers and burnt a pair of jeans before I made a shield. Two pieces of ali laminated with a layer of exhaust wrap in between, mounting tags on the back and jubilee clips to secure to the pipe. Neat, tough and effective! I`ll try to get a pic or two up on here...

Re: Exhaust protection

Here`s some pics of the guard, hope this works, never posted pics like this before...! (Please ignore the pansie tyre! I bought it in road only spec, just using up the rubber then it`ll be shod in something far more suitable!)

The double skin with exh. wrap between took ages to get right but works really well, worth the effort!

Re: Exhaust protection

Probably a silly question, but won't the original guard still fit? I changed my end can last year and it still fitted.
Before:-

After:-

Re: Exhaust protection

Hmm!

Will examine that possibility tomorrow.
I have a Leo Vince SBK.
Havent looked twice on the original exhaust.
Where`s the original guard attached?

Re: Exhaust protection

good idea, if you still have the original! My bike came without it and if they`re any thing like the header guard they`ll be a little prone to rust!
