intermittent fault - poss fuel? Help please

The bike starts fine, but.....1/2 mile up the road the engine fades.. almost feels like shes flooding.. After a few mins and a few blips on the starter she goes OK for my 50 mile commute... then its the same problem on the return journey... and it seems to be getting worse and more pronounced. Has anyone on XRV come across a similar problem.

    Any clues would be welcome.

Fuel pump is my guess, but Chad'll probably give you a full diagnosis!

Many thanks - the first one died at around 25000 but this second one has been on for the last 100,000 so I guess it could be going..

If the pump is a gonner, go the Facet route. Now or later, you'll feel better for it, and its way cheaper than the Honda pump.

My bike seems smoother, maybe even more responsive... (maybe in the mind) Answers me quicker than the wife does, louder surprisingly too

Likewise on the former, certainly not on the latter, unfortunately!

It definitely sound fuel related. It could also be sticking butterflies in the carbs, massively unbalanced carbs, Or the dreaded choke.. If you are not running a facet, i would change that (anyway), get the the carbs cleaned and rebalanced, and lube your choke ... if this does not solve it for years to come.. then you have.. make sure that you fuel lines are not bent in a bad way and make sure that there has not been a build up of crap slowing the flow in the lines/filter (yes I have seen this ...) and.. lastly in the tank the actual fuel tap filter can collapse (seen this too) so if all else fails make sure that this has not happened..
