Facet fuel pump - help please

Would be glad of some help please:
Just fitted a Facet 40105 to my AT (1998 /14000 miles). There was nothing wrong with the original, but I'm off to Timbuktu in January and having read on this forum that the OE Honda pump can and does fail without warning, I thought I'd fit the Facet as a precaution. I bought the pump from the shop on this site, and it went on OK, the bike starts OK, but petrol is dripping from the carb overflow tubes, which didn't happen before the conversion. Had the needle valves out again and there's no problem with them, so don't know what to do about this problem.
Would be very grateful if someone can offer advice or solution

    Thanks in anticipation

It's as if your fuel pressure is on the high side. Check that you recieved the correct pump. Should read 40105 on the mounting lugs you cut off.
The orientation of the pump or position should not make a difference.
Someone else here mentioned they had the same problem you are experiencing so you are not the first. I know alot of members here are using the same pump with no problems...so the only logical explantion are your carbs. What it is in the carbs...I don't know. Have you ran it hard and fast? Still leaking? See if you can isolate to which carb by using an independent drain line to each and bagging it.

I put a small car fuel filter in line, replacing the OEM one, when I replaced my welded together OEM pump. This might have an effect on the fuel flow rate, but not the pressure.

A small bit of grit is all it takes to stop a seal working.

Also consider leak from elsewhere tricking you, like a split pipe.

To the two chaps/esses who have responded already, thanks very much. I'll have a look again at this at the weekend - I'm hoping that a good thrashing will make it behave properly, it usually does....

    Thanks again

    Don't fret Sir Roy
I had same experience; it took a few days to gradually slow to nothing more than a smell and then stop altogether - 5 or 600 miles, about a week or so in my case. Hang in there
RD07a, reg in 2001, Black, heated grips, short screen, Scottoiler, Givi top box and panniers, DataTag, full Riky Cross crash bars, Baglux tank cover, Facet pump, mostly 200 miles to reserve and presently a lot happier since being loved up at Chad's hospital for sick ATs!

    Thanks Steve,

I'm hoping this works for me, it being an option with minimum hassle/aggro, which is good at this time of the year, also me wanting the bike fully sorted fairly soon for the Timbuktu jaunt. Cheers

Well, this is guesswork of a confessed nutter, but I've assumed that the new pump does give higher pressure than a worn OEM pump and it just takes a little while for the needles and floats to bed in again. The OEM has some kind of bleed on the carb side that isn't there on the Facet - to release pressure after the bike's switched off?

    As I said, nutter's ramblings...

I know, I'll tell you all about the effect absent fathers have on their adult children instead
