    Time to change the antifreeze...

Time to refresh the antifreeze ready for the cold, hard winter ahead(fingers crossed!).
I`m new to the @ and don`t have a manual, just got a couple of Q`s:

What is the overall capacity for the coolant? (I`m using premixed stuff so don`t want to get far too much/too little)

Are there any hints or tips for draining and refilling the system? Is it prone to getting any airlocks anywhere?

Any info you have gained from experience would be most appreciated! I`m pretty switched on mechanicaly but every bike/car has its own quirks!

    Cheers, FERG

I used the pink pre-mixed stuff (about 2 litres from memory, but I'm not sure)

Take the pressure cap off, disconnect the lowest hose you can get to, and drain it.

Flush the system in both directions if you can, with a garden hose.

    Reconnect the low hose.

Disconnect a high hose, stick a funnel in it, then top her up slowly, until you can't get any more in. Then reconnect the hose.

Start the bike with the pressure cap off, and slowly keep topping it up, as the air bubbles work their way up and out of the filler. Let the bike warm up, and hopefully as the bubbles slowly subside, you should have the level near the top, then just put the pressure cap on.

Make sure the expansion tank is filled to the correct level as well.

Always works for me this way (on any bike) and I've NEVER had an airlock!

Cool, thanks! Sounds a lot easier than my GT-Four, too many high points, its a right bugger to get the air out of! Some of the cars i`ve worked on in the past have some well hidden little vent caps to bleed the air out through, hard to find unless you`ve been told where to look...
    Cheers for the pointers!

I like to remove the drain plug at the water pump for a complete flush.
