    Push or Pull throttle cable????

    Hi all
Hopefully i will be off to Morocco in the new year to catch a few stages of the Dakar.
I am getting together some spares and i am not sure if i need a Push throttle cable or a Pull one.I have been onto Wemotos site and they have the two of them there.
My bike is a 2002 rd07.Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
Also, while i am in Morocco if anyone else is there at the same time and needs spares for an Africa Twin let me know by PM and as long as i havent used mine maybe i can help.

OK.Thanks for the replies.Editing this post because i now realise both parts are seperate conecting parts.Thanks.

Your bike should have both. If I've understood you correctly.

For emergency spares you could get away with just the "pull" one. The push one is very unlikely ever to break and you'd hardly notice if it did!

I have often wondered if you had your "pull" cable fail in the middle of nowhere could you adapt the push cable to operate in pull mode.

    Has anyone tried this?

    Yes...sort of.

Pull cable on my FJ1200 snapped. Went to swap over the cables so the push became pull, but could only get to one end, the crappy Yamaha screwdriver supplied wasn't up to undoing the crosshead screws at the handlebar end.

Result was a throttle that worked perfectly normally.......but you twisted it forward to accelerate and backwards to slow down.

20 years of riding every day meant that I kept revving the b*llocks off it when I should have been closing the throttle. I made it the 50 miles home, a bit sweaty, but in one piece. The motorway was fine, it was the roundabouts that were a bit hairy.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!
