Hello Bikey Peeps.
Just looking at my rear brake disk , looks like a lot of surface cack, light rust dust, and also snags just a little.
Does anyone have any suggestions for cleaning materials for the disk and the brake calipers/ pads.

YEP, Brake cleaner as sold in a spray tin by all bike shops.
Petrol (just don;t use diesel as it leave an oily residue behind) is just as good though brake cleaner being a spray helps you get in all the nooks and crannies. Just be warned that whatever you clean it with if you clean the pins on which the calliper moves on then you will need to regrease them (preferably with a High Melting Point grease.

For the surface rust I just use an abbrasive pad - the kind you would use for the dishes (Scotchbright or whatever it's called). The snagging might be the caliper binding though - I thought that was nice and clean....indeed, I cleaned it myself, though that was quite a while back now......

Take out your brake pin and have a good close look to make sure it has not worn. Replacements don't cost much and as Kymmy said make sure it is greased with a high melting point grease. Also might be worth pushing out the piston and checking the seals.
