    Talking 1998 AT Wheels

Ok here's the question. Whats the difference between TA wheels and AT wheels. 1998 @ is my baby.
TA wheels keep coming up on Ebay, and I am tempted to get a couple as spares for refurb. I notice that the TA wheels seem to have a plastic type hub cover thingy.

    Any advice ?

    Re: 1998 AT Wheels

I am sure that the front hub, rim, spokes etc from a 650 TA are identical to an RD07s They only look slightly different because of the smaller brake discs fitted to the TA, also the different design of the discs requires a different hub centre trim (the black plastic disc on either side). The front wheel from a late 600 TA with twin discs will also be the same.

The rear wheel on the 650 and late disc braked 600 TA is quite different from the RD07. It has a different cush drive arrangement and the sprockets are different and I believe the disc mounting centres may also be different. The rim size is also 2.5" width rather than the RD07s 3.00", but I believe earlier ATs had narrower trims anyway. However, it may be that the spindle size and width of the hub may be the same (not checked) as the AT, so its possible that the TA hubs may fit the AT swinging arm. The power difference shouldn't be a problem as I notice that the same hubs are now used on the new 700 Transalp which has a higher power output than even the AT. Remember though the 700 TA now has a 19" front wheel which would make an interesting option for road tyres on an AT
