Re: AT fork conversion finally started

finally got around to doing some stuff to the AT ive been meaning to do for ages.

When I fitted the USD's I originally fitted a low guard but tore it off, the upper mount on my Riky cross crashbars stuch out about 1" from the frame downtube & got in the way of either a low or high guard. My problem weas that I mounted all my tools to the crashbars. I decided to get some carbon bashplate sides with inbuilt toolboxes & take off the crashbars.

it was a bit of a job as nothing on my bike is straight after 330,000+ km including the bashplate but eventually I got them all fitted up including a high guard.

How is the front brake doing?
I want to do the USD conversion but I am reluctant, since a single disc, even a 320 mm one feels not enough...

Re: AT fork conversion finally started

    Hi,

I find the brake fine most of the time, not quite as good as the standard twin discs but good enough for me. 2 up fanging on tar roads needs a little bit more planning on the nraking front. Solo and on dirt roads the brake is great I find. I am using the small CR250 caliper , I have a 3 pot varader caliper in the shed that I may get around to fitting at some stage to give a bit more bite.

Re: AT fork conversion finally started

I found single disc conversion non comparable to original twin discs. I have single 320mm and would not even consider to go on less mm than that.
Only rider up and offroad is OK, but with passenger and lots of luggage I must say it was scary... Emergency braking - I didnt want to think about that...
I guess I made a compromise, single disc and good forks
