    Better than a Scott-Oiler??

I sorta like the look of this chain-oiler, especially as it is tailored for an AT straight from the manufacturer.

An interesting pic also shows an oil delivery tube on the front sprocket, and I was wondering if this could be combined with a rear sprocket one, and if it would be beneficial to the common "Output Shaft" wear/failure problem.

    Anybody on here got one???

    What do you all think???

    Here's the link...

    Looks very very tempting!!
Have admitted to myself that I need a scott-oiler, but all the hassle and mess I´ve read about them has put me off so far......
Looks like these guys have come up with a great solution.....

Took a brief look at the fitting instructions and they look very thorough and easy to follow. Visa time I think.....
Thanks for a great link BobA!!

oooooohhhhh- that looks a really smart bit of kit - but then again it should be for that price!!! - i am sick of my touring scottoiler - it has always given me troubles, but because i forked out so much in it - i keep trying to pamper it all the time -i think im much better off in using a spray lube and making a smart little alluminium toolbox that fits behind the number plate....

To be honest, I use chain lube because I always have.

I like the idea of an automatic oiler, but just can't get my head around the price Scott-Oiler charge for what is basically a bit of plastic. Fair enough, I know they have to cover R&D expenses etc, but for what you actually get, and for its simple (yet seemingly effective) operation, it just all seems a bit too much.

If people keep paying the price though, why would they lower it, especially as there really isn't any direct compettion for them.

It (almost) already exists. Check out the Honda XLV750R.

    Re: Better than a Scott-Oiler??

you could try using bits from a broken up deauville - aren't the engines on them the same as the ones on the Tranny - that wold mean that potentially the shaft drive and swingarm gubbins would be compatible or could be made to fit??

just a thought for those with more techie nouse that i

    Re: Better than a Scott-Oiler??

More sophisticated maybe but barring the fact it probably doesn't drip oil when the engine is just ticking over (And how much of a problem is that?) I really can't see any advantage at all...just more to potentially go wrong and/or get fried if the reg/rect lets go.
