    FMX USD Forks on @?

Hello there. This is my first post, although I have been using the site to gain valuable info for a while now.

Question? Is it possible to fit Honda FMX front forks to an @. I beleive the FMX is based on an XR or Dominator. Are the yokes a direct replacement or will the steering shaft need turning to fit the @ bearings?

I realise there will be the issue for the speedo drive, front brake and wheel will need changing.....etc

If anyone knows of any other 'issues' involving this swap please let me know.

If there is already a thread for this section could someone please direct me to it. 'FMX' is too short a word for the search function.

    Thanks.

Over here in the US, we don't get all the cool bikes you do in Europe. I don't know what an FMX is but I swapped out the stock AT front end with a complete CR one. A little machining on the stem and corresponding bearing sizes and I was done. Sounds pretty easy, doesn't it? It is. Keep it all Honda and you'll see how little you have to do to make it work.

Thanks Jim. Seriously sweet looking bike, mate.

I have read a bit on here about the CR front end conversion, to be honest it is probably the route I will take..... The only reason I thought the FMX forks would be easier, was because it will retain the bracket for the ignition barrel etc..... but this is no big issue anyway.

Does the CR front end have to be from an '89 or '90 model? I think I read in the XR forum that this was the best option.....?

I recommend using '92 and newer CR components. The '91 and older had some issues with the internal walls not being anodized and premature wear was evident. At least that's the case with US models. If you can find a whole front end from even the CRF's, that would be best. Bigger, stronger and parts are plentyful. Accessories are available too like a steering stabilizer.
