    Conti Escape Pressure

Just swapped my Metzeler Enduro 3s (After 8,000 miles) for some conti Escape's. I'm struggling to find a pressure that feels right. I used to run at about 25psi rear and 28psi front. But that just doesn't seem right.
    Any advice?

Seems rather low - I run mine at between 33 and 36 rear, and the front on the Honda standard of 29 psi. I normally run the rear at 29 on other bikes, but keeping it higher seems to help the feel on the Escape. Otherwise for me these are the best compromise of price, grip and longevity. I used to like the Saharas though, but they wore out quickly and are not the cheapest...

Pumped the rear up to about 33ish. MUCH BETTER!! I can actually go round corners now (which I always find useful) Thanks Hopefully they will last me til the end of May. Then I'm 100% sure I'll have to go for something a bit knobblier!!

Good tyres the Escapes, neutral steering and excellent grip in the wet or dry I've found.

If you're after something a bit knobblier I can recommend TKC80's (as will most people who've tried 'em). They feel very similar to the Escapes - probably the same compound I suspect. I'll be putting a set of TKC's on mine again before my summer trip.

Cheers XRV Jim. I saw a pair of TKC80s in the garage the other day and thought they looked the mutts nutts!

I'll be looking for a pair that will last about 5,000 miles. If Google Maps is correct its about 3,000 to Morocco and back and we'll be doing 1,500 to 2,000 once we are there

    Where are you headed?

The idea is to try out some tracks and trails in the Pyrenees but a new job and house move might get in the way. We'll see!

If you're going to Morocco it might be worth changing tyres in southern Spain. TKC's could be past their best by the time you get there depending on how hard you ride.

What are the Conti Escape like?

    On Road?
    Off Road?
    Longevity?

I'm Using the stock front TW and a rear Tourance.
I need a new pair now.

Love the Tourance, but wanted to try the Enduro 3 Sahara, a better tyre for some off road but still very good on road I believe... is the Conti Escape comparable?

Haven't had Conti Escapes, but have had 2 pairs of Sahara 3's, stick like glue, wet or dry, but longevity was cr@p on cement roads, off road hard coral etc.(2500kms and 1500kms respectively) Went for the Tourances, the last change, which are standing up much better so far, and give less vibration at higher speeds. I run 30 front and 36 rear on all my tyres, have found the front is slightly more responsive with the higher pressure.

    Re: Conti Escape Pressure

Am a big fan of Escapes and have used them on and off road. Off road they obviously lack penetration in mud, and only really work in a straight line. They need to be run soft (15psi). On gravel and hard pack, much better, and as a road tyre IMO the best compromise for this type of bike. You can run to the edge of the tread on the road. Expect around 5000 miles from the rear.
