    Bulbs

Usual question, but a brief panic moment.

Had my @ since Jan 2006, not blown any bulbs till now, and just blown two in two weeks.

Have checked the voltage on the battery, thinking it might be a regulator, but all seems normal

Please tell me this is paranoia and the @ isnt heading south for the winter

Before them as knows comes along Paul; I would check the bulb holder for any signs of corrosion - I've had a rogue bulb holder before now and it just took bulb after bulb until I replaced it. I have a similar effect going on with my kitchen spots right now - one holder has been through four bulbs in about six months... and all the other bulbs on that circuit are just fine.
RD07a, reg in 2001, Black, heated grips, short screen, Scottoiler, Givi top box and panniers, DataTag, full Riky Cross crash bars, Baglux tank cover, Facet pump, mostly 200 miles to reserve and presently a lot happier since being loved up at Chad's hospital for sick ATs!

East London, it's all those bloody rubber speed cushions and speed tables, along wth the potholes placed in between them, the vibration is killing them slowly.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

    Yen,

Completely agree, this place is nuts, 6 speed cameras one way also dot my route to work of just about 11miles, I do like some speed bumps tho, those that are placed in the middle of my lane, easy to ride around them.

Riding my bike up and down kerbs probably isnt doing too many favours either lol

Funnily enough, I was riding home along the Commercial Road two nights ago, when I noticed that my tacho and temp guage lights weren't working!

Now it may be that the mystical East London "Bulb Gremlin" is once again walking the streets of the IOD looking for innocent AT's, or it could be a complete coincidence, who knows?

All I wanna say is, my RD04 is a 1990, so those bulbs have been OK for 18 years...spooky that they should suddenly go after all that time?!!!!

IOD is not as bad as Wapping with it's combination of speed humps, granite setts and potholes.

I lost the most rear lightbulbs in living history when they had the M11 down to two lanes for a few miles for 6 months (one of which was the hard shoulder). Riding up the middle of the traffic jam each night meant riding on top of the hard shoulder rumble strip. The vibes killed a bulb a week.

    Re: Bulbs

paul. It could quite possibly be your rectifier as I found out to my cost (breaking down half a mile from anywhere and having to push the bike).

The first sign of a failing rectifier is bulbs blowing. If you're friendly with your local Honda dealer take it in and ask them to check it. It only takes them 5 minutes.

If you do need a new rectifier the ones from wemoto are half the price of the Honda one and they are exactly the same (confirmed by a Honda engineer) and are manufactured in the same place and even hae teh HOnda part number on them.
