    shock rebuild London/SE

Anyone know anywhere down this way that does it? I currently have RD07 shocks on both my RD04 and I'd like to get the old RD04 shock rebuilt and toughened up a bit.

I saw the prices quoted to Fewtrees. It is not far short of a new Hagon from Wemoto (£248 ). I quite like the idea of having it jacked up a bit though.

Hagon are based in NE London (technically Essex) Have you called them for a quote?

They will no doubt recommend their own, but if you say that you want your's rebuilt they will surely advise you so you can get an idea, and perhaps get a better picture of why a rebuilt may or may not be the best option for you.

Nice bunch down there: got my SM wheels from them.

Cheers, just spoke to Hagon. The standard is meant for a rider in the 11-14stone weight range. Lots of pillions and luggage would put you outside that. They do a purpose built one for £295 with a heavier duty spring. It still has adjustability but they point out that if you build it so that standard settings are for two heavy passengers and a bucket load of luggage then it will feel unforgiving if you then ride solo with no kit.

In fact, lots of pies put me outside that range some years ago, with no pillion or luggage.

Yeah, me too (though mine is just relaxed muscle obviously! )

I think Anton88 had a shock rebuilt (I may be mistaken - my memory is a little hazy - it was the guy who'd been working with chad when they were both doing up/rebuilding rd04s - think the thread was about spraying the engine and I commented on how clean the shocks looked and someone said they'd had it rebuilt).

Will try to find the thread.

Ahh.. I found it (using the word marmite of all things!):

toxic's back on his feet(well wheels)

I was mistaken and it was Dilbert, but I'm not sure if he had it rebuilt or just had the spring powdercoated without having it completely redone (guess the latter but might be worth asking perhaps).
