Just spent a couple of hours working on the bike and finally got round to dismantling the choke. One choke plunger was in as new condition, the other was wet, rusty and had a broken spring. All cleaned up, left the cables disconnected and fitted the screw caps from the front calipers (will be easier to order these later). Put the bike back together and then came in to read up on the choke threads. DOH, after all that effort, left the plungers and springs out (deliberately) and have now read that I should of replaced them but just left the cables disconnected. Guess what I'm going to be spending hours doing tomorrow?
