Seat shoot out: Touratech vs Corbin vs Boano?

    Hi people,

I'm looking to get a new seat for my RD07, and these are my requirements:
    1. Must support 2 people
    2. Must be flat: no divide / ridge between pillion and driver so I can slid back when needed
    3. "Dished out" sounds good
    4. Must NOT raise height as I have raised suspension already
    5. Is a complete new seat as I have plans for my old one
    6. Waterproof (i.e Corbin with vinyl)
So I have short listed Touratech, Corbin and Boano. (Africa Queens excluded for various reasons)

Now I know from experience Touratech UK are a nightmare but I'd like to ignore the service and just look at the anti-numbing properties.

Cost wise somehow Touratech seem to be winning!

If you own one of these I'd love to hear from you, good bad and the ugly especially if you have done some serious long distance trips on them.

    Many thanks

    D

I have the standard seat but had the Corbin seat when I got the bike. It is seriously hard but for some reason seems to work. Didn't do many long distance trips with it as it has a serious flaw - it is much lower than the original which means your family jewels are right against the tank. The causes a rather disturbing feeling feeling, though not always altogether unpleasant , due to the vibrations through the tank. I've not tested this but I'd hate to think what would happen if I had a pillion and had to brake hard as the Corbin seat is very slippery... The thing I liked about the Corbin seat though was that you're sat more "in" the bike which does make the handling feel more secure.

I tried a few option myself on my @, in the end i solved the problem with buying a tiger! No problem at all with its seat. Thing that sold it to me was my friend did over 1100 miles on one day on his tiger and didn't have a problem, so i thought if i could do half that without a problem i would be happy.

    Thanks lootch67.

Good photos: you can really see how much snugger the Corbin fits. What material was it covered with? As a few people have said they are pretty slippy.

Anyone with a Touratech seat have a nice profile picture?

As I've seen one where the rear of the seat seems way to high:

Hi have a corbin, once you get used to it you can do any amount of miles you like no prob''s at all,

HOWEVER,two up it is not great as the pillion tends to slide onto you giving the afore mentioned "CROWN JEWELS" problem

Have had my original seat covered with "HIGH DENSITY" Foam from a local furniture/upholster shop for half nothing, fab job, verrrrrrrrrry cheap compared to "specialist" he did reuse the original Honda cover,

    Hope this helps

Re: Seat shoot out: Touratech vs Corbin vs Boano?

I have a Touratech seat that I bought off the previous owner of my bike

The construction is fantastic - very solidly built and for the price not bad compared to a new one from mr Honda - it is heavier than the standard seat because the base is metal not plastic with the seat cover riveted to the base.

This is very comfortable over long distances and this is all I have used it for

I tend to use the standard seat for general riding and off road

What are your plans for the cover of the standard seat - of it's in good condition I would buy it off you - PM me your contact if you want to sell

    Regards

    Paul

    Hi Simon

I did buy one of these seat covers from them - the girl said they were exactly the same as the honda one - needless to say the one I got was different and they don't have the HONDA logo on them

    Cheers anyway

Just checking & found your plight b4 I leave for home, just bought my bike an the guy offered me a Corbin at less than some of these repair/upgrade prices. As the bike stretched me budget I coulndn't look at it as I would have had to turn it down and cry so i just said no. If your interested bell me an I will pass on the info 0777 312 4528. If the ugly guy answers, it's me.
