    service history - how important

    Morning all

Well Ive done a couple of months on the RD04 that I bought from Airwolf and Ive come to the decision that the @ is the bike for me. A very nice looking RD07 has just come up on my company notice board so am considering upgrading.

Its a 98 model, RWB, a few extras and seems to be in very good allround condition.

Its showing 40K on the clock

Now, back to my question - it has no history whatsoever ! Does this really matter or do I just judge it purely on how it looks, feels, rides, sounds ??

Bit of a dilema as its obviously a newer bike than my RD04 so will involve me shelling out more cash, but its got more miles than mine (if you beleive either of the clocks) and I know some people do prefer the RD04 to the RD07

So faced with the above would you -

Sell the 04 and buy the 07

    or

Keep the 04 and spend the cash on her

I know that ultimately its my decision, but its always good to get other views

    ta

    Chris

I think i would prefer it without a service history, dealers tighten the chain up too tightly which knackers the most expensive part of the bike up. Check the output shaft has no movement whatsoever, check it's not been crashed too hard, most other stuff is easily and cheaply fixable.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

    You could always have both

    Is the 98 a bargain ?

Condition and 'feel' is more important than service history in my opinion.

    Airwolf

Its not a huge bargain but its reasonable

working on the wife to let me keep both but recently aquired another bike as a bit of a project so shes not too keen on having 3 bikes !! and to be honest, dont think I could justify that either.

    we'll see

might test the waters and see how much interest there is in the RD04

Gave the RD04 a service last weekend - that front left hand plug is a bugger !!
