    indicators stopped working

I reported before about slow running indicators. I never got round to fixing them and they seemed to start to get better so I thought it might just have been lack of use (the bike had been laid up for 18 months) but the other day they just stopped completely. No fuse blown or anything.
Suppose I'd better take the bloody things apart this time and not be such a lazy bugger.

Obviously if there's corrosion in the lamp holders that needs to be cleaned out. It might also be worth checking the flasher unit and relay [if there is one]. It seems to be the week for electrical gremlins

I think the relay is/has dying/died, but there again, what the hell do I know?

    Re: indicators stopped working

It'll be the flasher unit, or a corroded connection to it I reckon.

I gave another lease of life to my RD04 flasher unit by carefully prying the plastic cover off it, then drowning the bugger in WD40 for a while, shaking it out, connecting it back up, turning the indicators back on, and giving it a helping hand to get going. Left it flashing for a while, and it's been nay bother since.

The problem is, it's a little electro-magnet set of contacts in there (rather than a bi-metallic strip like in some) and it sortof seizes up.

If it ain't working, you can't make it any worse trying (but then I too am forgetting your doorbell saga!!!!)

    Good Luck

    Re: indicators stopped working

    Hi Whealie
Did you fix the problem? The same thing happened to me this morning. No indicators at all. Everything else is find. Fuses, Horn, all lights and brake lights, I haven't anything in the manual to help. It says look at section 25 of the common service manual. I don't have a section 25?? The wiring diagram looks wrong to me. I have 4 wires on the rely and the wiring diagram only shows 3?
I am sure that it must be the relay? Gonna have use my hand signal all day today.
