Hi oro its a smart move to fit an inline fuse as if your reg/rec goes its last mission is to destroy as many electrical components as it can so 75p will save a lot of bother.and also fit connectors to your wire ends at worst it is somthing less to consider if you have a wiring fault on your bike.

Mel is right, make sure you put an inline fuse in series with the + wire.

You can buy in-line fuse holders for blade fuses, or the old glass style ones in Halfords, and if you do have an electrical problem it will be the best couple of quid you spent. The Rider should tell you what fuse to fit, but if not use the smallest value you can get away with (that doesn't keep popping).

I wired my Rider into the sidelight circuit, as I always ride with my lights on anyway, and it's just inches away from where the TomTom will be, and it does give you the option of switching it off (with the lights) if you want to.

    Good Luck

I have a car Tom Tom, on the power plug there is a tiny 2 amp blade fuse , so I would install a 2 amp fuse to be on the safe side.

I power my GPS from the +ve feed to the front brake light switch.. that way its protected by an existing fuse, and cut off when the ignition is off, and the supply is a few inches away.. so no need to take seat / tank off to run wires

    cheers
