    Sounds pretty bad camnz

Looks like an auto electrician if it's blowing fuses like that

    Good luck

According to the fitting instructions here - you should be able to utilise the existing wiring................so if it's blowing fuses it sounds like you have a short somewhere.

I'm assuming that with your original pump the fuses remained intact and it was only after you installed the facet that the fuses started to blow? If this is the case then it sounds pretty localised. Check the connections again and see if there is any break in the wire or bare wire showing.

Incidently, exactly which fuse is blowing?

its the fuel/ignition fuse that keeps goin, the old pump was fine but for some reason the facet blows them.ive wired it directly to the fuel cut off relay but when the key is on so is the pump.not a big prob as there seems to be no fuel squirting out of anywhere so maybe ill try it on a run and see??

Ok..2 wires went to the OLD pump. One is GREEN...this is the ground wire and this GREEN wire splices to the BLACK wire on the NEW Facet which is also ground.
The other wire going to the OLD pump has double colours and is BLUE/BLACK and this wire splices to the RED power wire of the NEW Facet pump. This BLUE/BLACK wire is power and leads to the fuel cutoff relay. Sounds like you have them crossed somehow...or your fuel cutoff relay is fried ??

Where exactly is the fuel pump's little connector? I was poking around under the fuel tank most of this evening with a mirror and spotlamp, and I couldn't see it anywhere, much less disconnect it to start checking the pump and relay, much much less replace the pump itself.

Does it have to be a tank-off job? I only filled the thing up the other day.

Yup, tank off. In the vicinity of the cross member of the frame at the back end of where the tank would be. Just above where the petcock would be and wrapped in tape I believe. Only real way to find this connector is to follow the 2 wires from the fuel pump itself.

Why not just cut the OEM supply cable and crimp on some bullet connectors & shrink-wrap. Then it's easy to remove the OEM pump without having to access the hidden connector block. And it also makes connecting a new pump easy

I came to precisely the same conclusion this morning. I'm assuming, of course, that the wiring is all intact, so I'll at least be better able to attach my multimeter.

Sorry camnz, I hijacked your thread!
