Phillips X-treme Power vs Genuine Honda H4 Lamp Report

    Philips X-treme Power £10
    Genuine Honda H4 £3.50

Last time I was out driving at night on country lanes I wasn't very impressed with the standard headlights especially when dipped. So I thought I'd see if I could improve things a little without getting additional lights etc.

I've just fitted them and they look a little brighter and slightly whiter which you can just make out in the following pictures (it more pronounced to the naked eye but it's not as big a difference as I was hoping for)

Left is Honda, Right is Phillips

I'll report back here once I done some night time driving in the country but it will probably be a while.

Has any tried the Philips MotoVision?

I had the Motovision on my old CB-1 (fantastic bike!!). I liked it: it did seem nice and bright: I felt it was brighter than the standard H4 in the bike before, although Philips made no such claims.

However, the added bonus and logic to the product was the fact the from a certain angle (ie the one that car drivers might see an approaching bike from), there was an orange tinge. This is different to most car lights, especially HIDs and, so, it is supposed to help drivers distinguish a bike headlight amongst a sea of car lights, and so be aware that there is a vehicle there too, and not just a bunch of cars. Does that aspect work? Who knows, but every bit helps. I rode assuming that it did not work, but bought it hoping it would. Does that make any sense?

Would I recommend it? Yeah, sure: it was a good headlight and gave a good beam, IMHO.

have philips in my car and they make quite a difference. Much more light on the road and they shine farther. they are supposed to have a more limited lifespan though. certainly worth 10 quid I spent on a set of two for H7.
