    Rear shock...

    Hi all.

I noticed recently that my rear shock seems very erm...bouncy ?.

I found it was wallowing a bit in bends ( the bars would wiggle and the bike would weave at the slightest bump) and when i got off later and tried it on the sidestand, I could get some real bounce using just one hand and pushing on the rear rack. Is this normal ?. I tried it on an identical AT that i was with and his seemed to have a lot more damping. It looks like it's wound about half way on the preload and it's fair to say I'm carrying substantially more 'poundage' than recommended in the belly area !.

The bike is on about 23K and on the original shock. It still rides ok but I'm just guessing it's on it's last legs. Is it possible to just have it re-built or is it a costly replacement ?.

    Any thoughts welcome.

    Thanks

    Paul

Mine started to feel like that after about double that. Bought MacP's RD07 shock as a temporary measure and replaced it yesterday with a brand new Hagon.
On my God what a difference.
So, RD07 Shock going spare. Paid about £50 for it, from memory, and have done about 2,000 miles on it since. Yours if you can collect it (too heavy to post) so make me an offer.

The basic unit is £250. You can get it custom made for heavier weights for just under £300. If you want the adjuster it is about another £150, but only necessary if you do two up a lot or often carry loads of luggage.
I was asking about custom built but was talked out of it - they were saving me £50 but insisted I would not need it.
The real test will be two up with luggage from tomorrow night.
