    Wheels again

Ill keep this short as im at work.

Just been on the phone to north east wheel builders and iv been quoted £320 for 2 rims and spokes, so they were getting done.

Just had a call back to say they cant get a 17 x 3.00 rear as there are none in the country.

    so my question is:

Would a 17 x 2.50 rear be ok on an 97 AT (curently running on contiescapes but have a tkc 80 to fit). would the tyre size then be different?

Meny thanks guys and girls in advance
    Barry

    Re: Wheels again

Aye up Logistian, get back to work, slacker.

I've got a similar dilema - I've got a new Akront rim for the front in stealth black, but its slightly narrower (the numbers escape me for now). Now looking at the front wheel the tyre that's on there is about as big as it can get due to clearance at the top of the fork lowers and I'm thinking its looking pretty 'pinched' already (as in the the side walls go out from the rim a fair old way to reach the tread section), so I'm wary of fitting it and I dont want to go down a tryre size on the front.

Now the back on mine also looks as though the tyre is about as wide as will fit on the rim and to go any narrower rim-wise may cause dramas, I suspect your's might be the same.

I'm no expert, but somewhere in the hidden depths of t'internet, there should be a chart that defines the tyre sizes that can/should be used with rim widths - there will be some amount of overlap between rim/tyre width, but as per usual, I dont have a dolly as to where to start looking....

Interested in the answers you get though.......

And yes, I'm at work too - but I have a stick, you dont!

Hi bazza phone them and tell them you will wait it will be well worth it. if you go for a narrow rim your tyer size is limited 17 inch wheels are bad enough as it is.so phone them and become their biggest problem of the day and they will deal with you.-----patience allways pays off---

If you fit a 2.50 rear, you are best off fitting a 130 section tyre.

    Re: Wheels again

That nice Akront front rim I have, ahem, may, cough, be from a Harley, I dont really know officer..............

Its 1.6 wide and the stock front is 1.85 so I'd imagine I'd need to come down a size in section on the tyre if I used it...........

I'm still toying with the idea though as my spokes are getting very tatty on the front and the rear rim is all but goosed around the valve hole...........

As for work time - I've already done my 22 so I'm essentialy in my own time now anyway. Must shoot, got some resettlement to do!
