    Tripmaster problem

    Hi!
I found one day, that my tripmaster LCD display looks strange:

    Name: trip1.jpg
Views: 383
Size: 114.3 KB Name: trip2.jpg
Views: 335
Size: 84.4 KB

it's showing all the 888 88:88 as you can see.

any ideas? could it be voltage reg. or just some condenser/capacitor inside the trip?

    cheers!
    /dery/

if you search the threads I seem to remember this has been mentioned before. Try the battery connections, as I think this happens when they become loose

I was looking for similar threads, many other problems with trip but never something like this.

Checked battery and all plugs - seems fine to me..

yes, you can read 198.0 but also it's showing a shade of 888 88:88. It's nothing serious [yet..] but a bit annoying, and I don't know maybe it's start of rectifier problem?

Try disconnecting the battery, then reconnect that should reset the tripmaster, you will have to reprogramme the clock & any information stored will be lost.

im pretty sure that in a previous thread - the trip has built in small batteries(?) - and it might be worth taking the back off and disconnecting these???

hmm.. I've been looking there, doesn't seem like batteries to me, rather condenser/capacitor. I can't disconnect it, but the trip is reset already.
    And the problem's still occurs

    Re: Tripmaster problem

    Hi dery

Had same problem after fuse blew due to faulty bike battery. Display showed 8888's and nothing I did made any difference, I followed advice and disconnected bike battery for about 10 - 15 minutes, re-connected batt and it all fired up and behaved, still works fine couple of weeks on.

    Re: Tripmaster problem

right, now I know that the tripmaster is faulty.
I connected my trip to 1gear1brake's AT [thanks mate!] an was the same.

so, no fuse, no rectifier, any other ideas?

what could be important, that this 'shade' is only on numbers [- 888 88:88]
there is no 'shade' on [TRIP 1 2 CLOCK km mile]
