    Holes in my panel

Had an interesting chat with a technical guy from ELECTREXWORLD regarding the Regulator/Rectifier and although in his words there Reg/Rec is so much better than Honda's ,half the problem is trying to keep the unit cool. Most manufactureres tend to mount this unit out in the open allowing a good circulation of air .So do I move the unit elsewhere or improve the circulation ? If you move it you will have to extend the cables which incidetly would have to be soldered and the hole move to where and extending cables may add to the problem.I have opted for better circulation ,I have drilled six eight mil holes in the side panel and now you can look through and see the offending unit. When sat on the bike that part of the panel with the holes is still accesible to the windy stuff.I know only time will tell and all you guys with your shining pristine At's are thinking "drill holes" if it works its got to be worth it .By the way my bike is a nice shiny one and I dont think the holes look bad .

Somewhere on this great site is a thread about mounting a computer CPU cooling fan above the reg/rec to keep it cool. I seem to recall that the installation was very well done and included cutting a hole in the side panel and covering it with wire mesh. All in all a very professional job done by a forum member who lives in a very, very hot country.

    Just my ramblings.
