the DR is much lighter than the AT and TORQUE!! it lifts the front very easily
but the guy gives it some stick.. guess if the AT rider give it a fist full the result may have been a bit different, but an AT on the lose is a handfull

I think horses for courses springs to mid here, right next to the video on Youtube is another video called AT in Iceland, have a look at that and judge for yourself, one bike can't be great at everything.

    saw that one too.

but dont under estimate the DR 22lt tank 50+ to the gallon and will lollop along at 70+all day simple oil-air cooled engine, bullet proof, kickstart light and powerful

the AT/ Alp is good on the rough stuff but when its smoooth( icelandic trails )

like you say horses for courses the DR600 is 50/50 off/on the AT 20/80
( I have a big fat tyre for the back and a wee 17inch for the front.. super moto, now that's fun... and 100% road..... )

if I am on the road I prefer the vtwin, be it my Alp or the RD01, ( or dare I say it the 600 Bandit...) but the DR600 presses different buttons but even with balance shafts you still know its a BIG single, by your numb nuts after a few hours in the saddle, but as wee jack pointed out, you need a break after a few hours any way..

that track was defo XT/XL/DR country

i sold a 1986 dr600 last year and although i now own a 1991 a/t i still miss the old thumper,i used it mostly in bad weather rain/snow/ice anything really and felt really confident on it being a lot lighter than the twin, fantastic torque and coped with motorway speeds.i might just treat myself to another
