    R6 Reg Rec wiring

Help! I bought an R1 R6 regulator rectifier and it came without its wiring loom . It just has 5 spade connectors on the end of it with no identification so I dont know how to match them up to the colours on my RD03 , is there some way of identifying them ?

Place the r/r on a flat surface, fins upwards. Look at the connector with two pins at the top and three at the bottom. Pinout is as follows:

    +12v GND

How did you get on with the regulator?

Just changed mine for a R1 one. Bought off fleabay for £26.00. Lovely stuff. Multimeter test was fine. Just need the rain to bugger off to see if its sorted out the long distance problem of losing charge after about an hours riding with the lights on.

    Re: R6 Reg Rec wiring

Just got round to fitting it yesterday, with the original it read, idle 13.95, 2500 13.95, 5000 14.00, lights on it was ,idle 12.55, 2500 14.63, 5000 14.65.
    with the r1/r6 . idle 14.2 , 2500 13.88 , 5000 13.77 , lights on it is , idle 12.50 , 2500 13.50 , 5000 13.10 .
Turned off the battery reads 12.68 and its probably a bit knackered as I've just done 30 000 k with it ,
I seem to have been having the opposite problem to you rust , having to regularly top the battery up as the level would get below the top of the plates ,because I always ride with lights on it was constantly over charging.
Thanks to the @ thread it was simple and neat to fit , I just made a loom of wires with spade connectors and plugged her in, there seems to be a spare black wire in the @ loom which isnt connected to anything now , does anyone know if that is a problem?

Spare black wire shouldn't be a problem. Leave it unconnected. It's a switched 12v feed but the R1/R6 reg/rect doesn't need it (it was done away with on later AT's too as the reg/rect is different).

As long as the charging voltages are good, job's done.

Interesting, I need a new rectifier/regulator for my RD03 is it only an R1 or R6 one that I have to look for (exept of course a genuine Honda item)? If it is onlt R1 & R6 what model year do I need? Thanks in advance
