Have a look at this thread -
Honda Fitted Heated Grips
Should tell you all you need to know.
The Honda heated grips kit, from David Silver Spares, is about £59. You'll also want the two other connector do-dads that Stormforce8 mentions.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Thanks, will have a look on web for details of Oxford grips.
Talked to Honda of Southampton today and original heated grips around the £250 mark, little much for me but they were very helpful.

For those of us not familiar with the Oxford family tree, what did the faulty unit look like? When were they making it?
I have the older (I presume) Oxford heated grips on my bike - a black box with a knob that you turned to switch them on and set the temperature. I understand that later units used a press-to-make switch, in conjunction with turning the knob to set the temperature. Did Oxford make the 'control panel' unit too, the one that looked too fiddly to operate while wearing gloves?

Recovering 2001 RD07a / Facet pump / Pipercross filter / Remus can / heated grips / Scottoiler / Givi tubular rack / MRA vario / 12V sockets
I have one bike with the old knob, which I like, and one with the new button up and down system. Actually it seems to work OK.
Oxford grips bought on ebay. Still cheap and keep you warm and toasty.

Laser Pro Duro, crash bars, bark busters, heated grips, GPS, topbox, Alu Boxes, Scotoiler, Starcom, ciggie lighters and XRV stickers.
I've got the newer oxford grips with the fiddly control panel, the dial was definately better and easier to operate.
bought the new oxford ones with the LED display and 4 heat settings and I am blown away with how good they are and so simple to fit, went through the Lewis pass here in newzealand and it snowed but the hot grips were outstanding...![]()
I've got the oxford grips on my transalp, they were already fitted when I got the bike and except having to replace the fuse early on (but not since) they have really been fantastic. They get so hot in fact I take my hands off the grips once in a while just to lose some heat. I've got the two button option and reading the links here on the site someone mentions putting a washer or rubber bump on one or the other so you know which button to press without looking.
I also made a bracket that fits on the rear few mirror so that I could switch them on/off/up/down without taking my hand of the bars.
Really good option. No complaints. Damned site cheaper than Honda grips.
It is not the critic who counts.....
