Did any of you also have a scratched/weathered front cover on your tripmaster/trip meter? I could not read anything anymore after 100,000km..
I replaced mine yesterday with a second hand piece of perspex (but sadly didn't have a camera while doing this, only took pictures now).
I had thought it's only glued on from the top/outside but it seems moulded into the black housing. So, I could not simply lift it up, but had to drill holes all around it and cut it out (but leaving a 3-5mm ridge to glue on the new cover).
At the top on one of the pictures you can see the "left overs" of two holes.
I then cut a new cover to shape and siliconed it on. Beforehand I had painted it black from the back and put a piece of cellartape on it keeping the "window" clear. In this way all (well most of) the ugly drilling story was covered...
The only problem was that the original front piece is curved..that's why you see the nice silicon squeezing out from the bottom...well, at least it works.
BTW: the speedo reads in fact 106,049km...
Duh, got problems inserting photos...will try again.
