    RD03 exhaust removal ?????????

hi all, as i posted before i have a snapped stud in the rear cylinder pipe to hold the shield on. i have a mate who can weld a nut on to take the bolt for the other side of the heat shield so tonight i decided to try to remove the exhaust........................................... ....

i could get to 3 of the 4 nuts on the barrels but couldnt reach the front cylinder inside bolt the downtube and engine mount was in the way, i couldnt get a spanner on it and although i could get a socket on it i then couldnt line up the extension to fit into it !!!!!!!!.

I then decided to remove the right hand front engine mount, the two bolts that go through the front downtube came out ok but the bolt to fasten it to the engine ( tucked behind a coolant pipe ) was well stuck !!! it was beginning to round the head of the bolt and so i tried another plan.

i loosened everything off and with some pulling and tugging and twisting managed to get the rear downpipe off whilst leaving the front downpipe in situ, its ready now to be welded as i've ground the old nut thingy off and dressed it up, but i cannot help but think that this wasnt the way to do it and i would have much rather taken the whole system off as one.

is there an easy way to remove the complete sysem????????????????

    thanks

I use a small quarter inch drive socket set, and an extension with a universal joint to get to that little bu$$er of a nut!

The other thing is, sometimes when you undo the one opposite, it makes the hard-to-get one free off a little bit.

I use a 3/8" drive standard depth socket with a long wobble extension on it. It gives more room than a UJ. That nut's a little awkward to get off but just wait 'til you're trying to get it back on if you think removing it is fun
