    EBC Brake Disks

I took my @ for a MOT last year - and the guys in the workshop said that my front discs had warped - as a result i forked out in fitting a new set of EBC discks front and back.

However - i have never been happy with them as they have surface rust overnight - the stopping power is much worse than the OE items and they now jsut look a mess... I want to revert back to the OE disks...

so does anyone happen to have a set lying around that they wat to get rid of??.....

My EBC front discs were just the same. I never got a satisfactory wet weather performance with their recommended brake pads or anyone elses either. The surface rust means they stick overnight after wet weather riding. You should see them now on my spare front wheel hanging up on the garage wall, rustfest city!

However, the EBC rear disc was really good and suffers from none of the above complaints.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

Thats the thing - my rear disc is really really bad.... the front ones are better - but still pretty shocking...

I have no idea what make of disc I have on my TA but they were rusty ater a wet ride and three days without use, the EBC brake pads seem to be causing the brakes to stick.
I think it is because the shape is slightly different.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

    Re: EBC Brake Disks

I've gone through 2 sets of OE front discs in 2 years because of warping (see previous posts). My current front OE pads stick to the discs like siamese twins after wet riding. They always make a horrible grindy rubby noise. It's horrible. Unfortunately, the brakes are the one thing that would put me off buying another AT in future or recommending one to someone else.

I've heard that there are other makes out there that are better than EBC and Honda. Think I've seen some wavy ones discussed on the forum in the past. My AT is due for an MOT in Jan and if it fails because of warped discs again, I think I might go for these "other" ones.

    Hi Folks

This is Andy from EBC Brakes.

Many EBC discs are made from heat treated carbon steel because it is more ductile and less likely to split if water bathed in an MX ride and this of course is NOT stainless and will rust if left wet and standing, we always recommend drying such parts after cleaning a bike when returning from MX rides. However all street type rotors are now made from stainless steel.

If you want to ever know which rotors are stainless and which are not call in or e mail our office guys on biketechnical@ebcbrakesuk.com or call 01604 583344 in the UK or 1 818 362 5534 in the USA and they will advise.

I wish we could have perfect all condition solutions guys but some things are a trade off.

    Thanks anyway
