They differ from the RD07A carbs in that they don't have a throttle position sensor but seem identical in every other way.
So I still have this set of carbs (minus the 2 cut-off valves) sitting in my garage. If you'd like, I could send you this set and you can try each and every piece of these in your carbs until you find the culprit. Then you can replace what you've used and send them back. How does that sound?

As far as the fuel pump is concerned, I think that I would just swap it for a Facet electronic pump and never give it another thought. That's what I did as soon as I got my black @ after having had a pump fail without notice on my red one.

Dylan, good man, expert or no expert the truth is I cant solve my problem. The bike stil runs lean with 3 turns on the pilot screw. After buying inlet rubbers, Facet pump, fuel filter and other ridiculous stuff, it's still lean.

I think I will take your offer, if it's still up.

Chronyx let me use his carbs last weeken and the bike ran better with 2 turns on his than 3 on mine but I didnt have enough time to test every part.

What do you say? I'll pay for every postage and whatever more you might need. Like i said before, everything but sexual favours.

I've been trying to find this fuel starving problem for almost 2 months now...

Hope to ear from you. Thank you

Try comparing prices with wemoto. Thay're not cheap, but they have a great service and stock lots of parts.

    Have you found anything else?

Hi Scarface. Email me at onegearonebrake-at-hotmail.com with the address that you want them sent to and I'll get them to you. Somehow, you must get to the bottom of this.

    Question Re: Carb overhaul mileage

    Hello Friends,

As I am waiting for my RD07 carb to arrive to replace my RD07A carb, is there anything I should know? From previous postings in this forum, I know that the RD07 carb did not have a throttle position sensor. What would I do with it ?

    1. Can it be extracted from the RD07A carb fitted onto the one from the RD07?
    2. In case it cannot, what will happen with the electrical signal that the CDI uses from that sensor? Will I have malfunction?

If there are any other issues I dhould be aware of, please let me know. Thanks and best regards,

    Luigi

    Hey, Longman!

I think you can easily take the TPS from your carbs and get them in the new ones. 3 ou 4 bolts tops!

Afterall they're the exact same carbs.

Should be an easy task to get done, but I'll confirm it tomorrow.

The CDI is as far as I remember different on the post-TPS equipped bikes. However, I seem to remember a debate here about incorrect TPS settings from the factory, and from memory others reported no massive difference when the TPS wiring was disconnected at the carb. Probably a slight lag in acceleration would be the worst effect; perhaps some poorer fuel consumption. You can test this now just by disconnecting the sensor on the carbs you have.

It's possible to detatch the sensor from the carbs, so it should be possible to swap it over. However, it probably won't be set correctly on the new ones. Either way you should still have a functioning bike whether you choose to leave it off with the wires taped up, or swap it over without attempting to set it up.

Not quite as simple as that. You will have to use your existing right side carb body as well as the RD07 carbs do not have the mounts for the TPS. I thought about doing that myself but didn't get around to it yet.

    Re: Carb overhaul mileage

    Friends,

Just an update: My carbs finally arrived, but the customss authority forbids the importation of used vehicle parts, (Ridiculous, as if there were local production of carbs!). In any case, My carbs are still knackered and getting worse by the minute.

Meanwhile, I have discovered new symptoms in case someone has any light to shed (ScarfaceHugo, Dylan??).

    1. The bike stalls when I get to a stoplight if I don't keep the throttle open a bit (above 1500rpm). So I wnet ahead and turned the idle know a few turns, and although it doesn't die as often, it still sputters on low revs.

    2. On mid to high revs (past 3500) it runs pretty well, or I should say at least a tiny bit better, as I quickly found out... I tried overtaking a car quickly today by giving the throttle a quick flick of the wrist, and it did not react as expected. It almost seems like it floods for a second...

    3. Sometimes while it idles, I can hear an ocasional dull knocking in the engine.

As you can imagine, this is driving me insane , so please, and tips would help. Thanks and regards,

    Hey there, Luigi!

I'll try to help you out, but your case is for sure one of the strangest ones. I cant tell you what it is, I can only guide you through the process of checking possible causes for the problems. Hope you understand that. We can eliminate certain possible causes by checking them and slowly get to the original cause itself.

First of all I need to know what colour yous plugs are (all 4 of them) to be able to separate electric problemfrom fuel problem. If you've got new plugs, you should check if they ALL spark. It could also be a coil problem.
If it's fuel problem I would say that your main jets are working well but your pilot jets are probably clogged.

    Step 1- Change fuel filter
    Step 2-Check fuel pump flow
    Step 3- Check air leaks
Step 4- Completely clean carbs with CARB CLEANER (strong chemical solvent) and pressured air
    Step 5- Buy a gun

If any of these work for you, before using the gun, let us know what you've found.

    Re: Carb overhaul mileage

Hugo, just working in the garage putting my AT back together and had a brainwave about your carbs - I would bet someone has had them totally apart (Seperated) in the past and not seated an O-ring properly, I found this had happened on my VFR when I had the original carbs apart, one of the O-rings was distorted. Just a thought.
