Did any of you mega milers (Yen) ever have to/bother re-building the carburettors on your AT?
What sort of mileage do they start to deteriorate?

One or both of my air cut-off valves went at around 53000 miles. (I wasn't able to tell if it was one or both so I replaced both anyway.) No problems apart from that yet except regular cleaning of the choke plungers.
Mine still going strong at 60,000 miles........................Touch wood![]()

Apart from the chokes my carbs were still fine when 6 years old and 130k. Bike looked awful but ticked over perfectly. I think it might be time rather than mileage that causes problems when using decent fuel and air filters.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.
1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!
Hi Scarfacehugo if you go to the links section and click on Spares/Repairs and click on NRP .You will get the air cut off valves for around HALF the price of the Honda parts.I have used this company before excellent and quick service.Francis![]()
Sometimes when i think the world,s all bad , Then i see some people on Motorcycles it makes me take another look. Steve Mcqueen.
Wemoto do them as well
No...
...it's not the cut off valves either.
Just as well it's not the cut off valves anyway. The cheap NRP kits are only for RD04 carbs and not the RD07/07A. 07 cut off valves are non-rebuildable plastic sealed units which cost about £75 each.
Its not the diaphragms, the rubber inlets, the air cut off valves, the float height checks, and everything is as clean as should be. Still backfires with my carbs but runs ok with Chronyx's.
Does anyone know what's in a rebuild kit for these carbs?
