I think the mounting bolts should be 40 Nm.

Cleanest way of removing the pipes is have a big bowl nearby.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

cheers stumpyfingers, couldn't see torque settings in haynes.as for the brake lines i was thinking along those lines.never bled brakes before, but from what i've read back filling seems the best way to go to prevent air getting in the system.what do you think?

If the pipes come off removing the bottom first and placing them in a container helps when you remove the top connections as the fluid will then go into the container and not over the floor and you feet.
If you can get hold of a one person bleed kit then use a union to split the bleed pipe into two, that way you can open both bleed nipples and just pump away at the brake lever while watching the level.

I use a big syringe with a bit of tube to the bleed nipple.
    still need to bleed tho.

on the rear i found it helpful to bleed from the banjo on the slave cylinder also, as an air bubble seems to lodge there.
I was pumping ages until i did this. Obviously put a rag to catch the fluid, and be sure to mop any access up.

According to Honda's Official Shop Manual for a '96 AT:

    29 N.m (3.0 kgf.m, 22 lbf.ft)
It is recommended to use new bolts because these are ALOC bolts (with locking agent pre-installed). I guess you can just use a drop of thread lock on the bolt...

Funnilly enough, I've removed the callpers of my '96 AT a few times now and re-used the same bolts with no problems (until now - touch wood!)

Maybe the manufacturer require new bolts to be installed each time as disclaimer measure?

I don't think it is purely for part selling reasons...
