Are these pics of the restrictors in RD03 ???

Hi all,i took the carbs off to see if there was anything floating around that could cause my misfire but they were clean inside. I also wanted to have a look at the inlet manifolds as in one of my previous posts was posted a line drawing showing restrictions in them.

When i removed them, as you can see in the pics the manifold narrows in the middle from 40mm to 25mm, it is part of the inlet and cannot be removed. I have taken a pic of both of them showing the two sides so you can compare them to yours.

I'm fairly sure that this is the restriction and a "full power" unrestricted inlet manifold would just be a straight connecting rubber from carb to engine.

Mine came from Germany and i was told that they are restricted to 50bhp instead of the usual 57.

I've had a look on wemoto's site and they show a straight through "pattern" pair. I was worried if i order a pair from honda they would be the same as the ones ive got.

I'll keep you posted about the difference when i fit the new ones.

Not as far as i know, I think the smaller apperture in the inlet rubber restricts the movement of the vacuum plunger thingy with the needle on it, so i believe its all ok. I just think with the smaller rubbers fitted, although you have twisted the throttle fully open, the plunger hasnt fully risen and your not getting full throttle/full power.

My carbs have 130 main jets and from what i can see thats the standard size.

If anyone has any differing opinions let us know.

    Thanks

P.s all the credit for this finding must go to Kjell as it was he who put this information on here, I have only found out what he had told me.

If it works and your bike is a different animal after being unleashed thank Kjell.

If your bike seizes up due to incorrect jetting................................. blame Kjell !!!

Only kidding, get your spanners out boys.

    Thanks Kjell.

Haha, well I think I will wait to see of YOUR bike seizes up before taking my restrictors out. Carburetor stuff scares me.
