    aaaaggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh! I'm a numptie!

Was trying to change a weeping rocker cover gasket on the rear cylinder, took off the coolant pipe on the back of cylinder (in the V) pulled it out and dropped the little bolt, can't find the little bugger anywhere and I think it might have went down the hole into the cooling system, what now????????? obviously just can't leave it in there... :confused

Are you absolutely sure that the bolt went into the engine?

There are plenty of @ owners on here that have lost bits and found them rattling around in the sump guard / bash plate. Some members are convinced that there is witchcraft involved, such is the amazing part swallowing ability of the bash plate!!

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Or even a magnet on a piece of string.

    Re: aaaaggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh! I'm a numptie!

A few years ago I dropped a 10 mm nut into the cooling system on my car, I had that frozen moment where you just can't believe you are that numptie. I got it out by using an old net curtain over the pipe end, bound on with an elastic band, then I opened the water system at another point, and put the nozzle of a hose pipe into the system and turned on the tap, and hey presto it just popped out into the net bag. I think providing you pick a point that does not have the thermostat in the way it should work. But like the other folks have said, it's probably sitting on some little ledge looking right at you, just waiting for you to strip everything down, I guess a kind of witchcraft, nut gremlin thing.

If you do this make damn sure you tie a good knot on a decent piece of string!

I have a good friend (mechanic) who has rebuilt 2 engines as THE SAME twit used wool, yes wool, to tie his magnet too to get parts out of the wrong place whilst performing some piece of mechanical butchery!
When I grow up ..... yeah right!

Y'see, I could say "You can go fast, I can go anywhere, Africa Twin" But you buggers have 'em as well so it would sound pretty lame .... oops!
