Why did Honda make it so F!ck*ng difficult !!!!

Hi all, I've had my RD03 about 4 months now and removed the exhaust today, What a B!STA*D !!!. The front inside nut is nearly impossible to get at. This coupled with spark plug changing leads me to the question:

WHY DID HONDA MAKE IT SO DIFFICULT ??!!

Did the original Dakar marathons share the same frame/ front downtube ??
as you would have thought for a race bike everything should be easy to get to and check/replace.

I'm completely stripping it down in the winter for a complete overhaul and no doubt there will be some more cursing directed at Mr Honda .

Get yourself some decent sockets, universal joints and varying lengths of extension bars...

Then you can get anything from anywhere.

Sites like toolspot can sort you out for under £15 for the basics.

Thanks Ted, I do have tools but its still not a straight forward job as it is on most bikes is it ??

These things are sent to challenge us !! I've not worked on your particular bike but theres plenty of of bikes which have had me cursing.

I find lots of short extension bars with a couple if UV joints in a crazy chain can get almost anywhere.

Maybe you need some ratchet combination spanner... They are useful in such situations.



To be honest, how often are you going to have to do this ????

Once every few years if that in normal use.

Just make sure your studs are in good shape and you copper slip everything up for next time.

I should imagine they make it so difficult to ensure you take your bike to them for servicing and repair. Then they can justify the absolutely staggering amounts for a routine service. Don't give in thats what they want.......

but it doesnt help my skinned knuckles or donations to the F!CK*N swear box

I think if Honda sold their bikes with a first aid kit wrapped up in the tools, they would be giving the game away.
