Honda spark plug tool and filter wrench

So I need to start collecting the tools I need to work on my bike once I get out of school. I am wondering about this spark plug tool that everyone keeps talking about and the difficulties of changing the plugs. Is it a common Honda tool or something that is used on a lot of Honda bikes? What about the filter wrench?

I live in the US, so getting these tools from wemoto is going to be very expensive, so I'd like to get whatever RD03-specific tools I can in the US. Are there any other specific tools I'll need besides those two?

    Thanks!

oil filter wrench is handy but not essential. It depends how messy you want to get. I didnt have the wrench the last time i did the filter and had to spike it with a screwdriver and turn it a bit, then spike it again......and so on....and so on.......oil on floor.....oil on me.....more oil on floor.........this is getting messy......i think i'll buy a wrench for next time !!!. I think you get the picture.

The spark plug spanner is a must. as you no doubt know two of your spark plugs are waaaaaaaaaayyyyyy down deep in the engine so you need a long reach, not only that but there isnt much of a gap around the plug to the walls of the hole, Oh yes and if you look down the hole the plug isnt exactly lined up with the hole !!!.

Ther is a way of doing it without but you'll need a very thin walled long reach socket, the honda one is more like a box spanner you used to get on your push bike but the metal is only about 2mm thick wheras a socket is a lot thicker walled. Once you get the socket through the hole you need to kink it over a bit to line up with the spark plug and i found i couldnt do this with the sockets i had, plus if you use a socket you'll have to get a piece of fuel pipe down there to fish around to try and push it over the top of the plug so you can pull it out, whilst doing so you might push a bit of crap down and into the plug hole !!

The honda one has a rubber "thingy" in it so it grips the plug and pulls it out.

All in all...............................BUY THE HONDA ONE !!!!!!!!!!! Its so much easier.

How much is postage anyway ????

Thats my thoughts....................... Anyone else ?

A proper Honda spark plug spanner is a must.
The oil filter can be removed with a belt similar to the ones used for cars, so no problems there, other than that a decent tool kit and torque wrenches.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

If your in the USA then just go to your local Pep Boys for an oil filter wrench... many to choose from. It's your standard spin-on filter and probably the same size as your car. Spark plug socket is in the tool kit that comes with the bike...under the seat. If kit is missing then you can order the tool from any Honda dealer. Item #2 in the illustration.

Canister oil filters, too save much grief and screwdriver stabbing make sure you oil/grease the o ring that mates with the engine well before fitting, if this is done one stab with screwy usually gets it moving enough to spin off by hand. if you can get your hand around it with a cloth very often you can spin them off by hand without the need to stab em , I am not implying the other guys do not oil there o rings here, just passing on a tip for a newb, also if you can get the plug turned a bit too loosen it sometimes a piece of hosepipe wil push over it and can be used to spin it out. also I have never serviced an @ so dont shoot me for not knowiung the in and outs of that particular bike jusrt passing on general tips

If the filter hasn't been overtightened, it should come off by hand otherwise use a screwdriver or filter strap.

The Honda plug tool makes things much easier, you can make/adapt one from a car type with a u/j and T bar.

Any suggestions as to where I can order the Honda spark plug tool online ? I had a look on wemoto and couldn't find it.

I've had it up to my teeth buying sockets and stuff only to find they're too wide to fit in, etc, gaaah !

Got a gen parts one from Wemoto for mine a few months back - it's complete cack! The rubber bit that holds the top of the plug to allow you to lift the plug out has pushed up inside over the rib thats meant to hold it in place - leading to lots of swearing and stuff from me and it nearly getting chucked in the stream at the bottom of the garden! For the money it cost I expected a LOT better!
