    brakes

anyone got an RD04 and an RD07 who could compare the front brake callipers?

David Silver yesterday told me that they are different and the RD04's are no longer made.

    Are they interchangeable?

I can lend you a spare RD07 caliper (or two) to try for fit if you like.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

I'm quite sure that they're the same(95% sure). Maybe the pistons are different sizes, but everything else is the same, including the pads and the mounting holes.

Had a look earlier, put 07 caliper and bracket to the 04, the holes/mounting points line up. . . . so i would say they are inter-changeable. . . . i think you would also need the 07 caliper brackets as the pads mount differently, ie 04 - 2 pad pins, 07 - 1 pad pin.

    Re: brakes

    Cheers guys - pics anyone?

I now have odd callipers on both bikes. I have original RD04 left calliper on both bikes and some other calliper (which fits) on the left. The other calliper takes thinner brake pads so they wear out faster.

Will post picks of mine ASAP.
