    THE AT didnt last long...............

You might remember my threads re lowering the shock etc well it doesnt matter any more now. Was taking the tank off last Friday when petrol dripped onto my halogen inspection lamp totally destroying my garage, all its contents, the AT and a Trophy 900. A 1968 Triumph TR6 and a 1952 Matchles are restorable but 100% rebuilds but managed to pull the transalp out which needs some new front end plastics.

Absolutely devastated. Just restored temp power to the house but what a f'kin mess!!

Seriously bad news! What a nightmare.

In the true spirit of this forum, a large number of inappropriate jokes and comments instantly come to mind but, as you haven't had time to settle in here yet and get a feel for the place, I'm not really sure it would go down particularly well. So, if you're up for some piss taking and tasteless jokes then say so. If not then also say so. I'm sure everyone here will respect your choice either way.

Sometimes you just have to laugh or you'll cry. Personally, I think I'd still be too hungover to be posting if it had happened to me.

You were lucky, it could have killed you.
But surely there is an easier way of getting yourself in the local papers.

I feel for you man. Last summer I was putting the finishing touches on a 1937 International p/u truck street rod. Had just completed a build of a 355ci 450hp chevy small block had installed it in the truck and was doing a valve adjust when the oil caught on the headers. Managed to push it out of the garage but burned the entire front portion of the truck including the new interior and impossible to find tilting windscreen. Had already invested about 100K USD and well starting over. Worst part of the whole thing was it was an aniversary gift for the wife. Had a good cry, rolled up my shirt sleeves and started again. I feel your pain. The most important thing is you didn't go up with all your gear. Good luck on the salvage and rebuilding. If I didn't live a couple of thousand miles away I'd offer to come over and give you a hand. Hopefully there are some friendly hands close by that would be willing to do so. Really need some good friends when something like this happens.

Bloody hell. That's incredibly bad luck. I know I don't know you, but my heart just sank when I read what you've lost or had damaged (losing the africa twin alone would be bad enough but the others too!). It seems like such an easy mistake to make as well. I can't begin to imagine how sickening that must be. Just glad you got out safe and your family were OK. Hope you get things sorted and you get some compensation from the insurance to help you get started again without too much hassle.
