Is my tripmeter about to pack in.

    Hi Guys,
Last weekend i decided to strip the front end of my RDO7 of and finally clear up some rust spots that were taunting me , when i had everything sorted and the paint had dryed i replaced the clocks and tripmeter, everything looked perfect and was working fine untill i tryed to adjust the time on the tripmeter, no response, for some strange reasone i cant reset the correct time , everything else on the meter works fine except the friggin clock .. is this the first signs its going to pack up alltogether .

My trip seems to be playing up now and then but seems worse on cold/damp days, if I reset the trip (after refueling) it only counts half the distance that it should do then if I reset again it works OK. Very strange

Hey Rog I think i've got the same gremlin, on the way home from work today and nearly crashed because i kept looking at the friggin tripmeter , when i eventually got home i disconnected the trip from the wiring loom and started the bike up, while the bike was ticking over i reconnected the trip to the loom and guess what ....... its back to normal , everything's working now... i've no idea why but there ya go ..

Re: Is my tripmeter about to pack in.

Mine went blank on me once after I'd striped it all to paint the front subframe (my rust was taunting me, even in my sleep!). I was tooling along quite merrily on the M74 when it went blank. I thought oh-ho, reg/rec about to explode? But my Dynacharge was green so I just pulled over at the next services. I switched it off, had a fag then sarted her up again and all was well. That was months ago and its not done it since. Wierd.

Perhaps they just like rust and get upset if we remove it.............
