What wheels fit the @ eg Transalp etc?

Was cleaning the AT today and noticed the state of my rear rim - tis fooked. I know I had a set of rims and if I had known this was going to happen I would not have sold but hey ho.

What other wheels fit? Not too bothered about profiles etc.

My options as I see it are :

    Second hand
custom fit (KTM, TDM etc wheels that would be interesting)
Get new rims/spokes etc laced onto my hubs.

I need, whatever I do, cheap!
When I grow up ..... yeah right!

Y'see, I could say "You can go fast, I can go anywhere, Africa Twin" But you buggers have 'em as well so it would sound pretty lame .... oops!

Look at getting new rims and spokes then look at the costs of secondhand wheels.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

Did that - going to order new spokes and rims from CWC this week!

The really good thing is, is that the mrs, when confronted with the need to replace the rear only (as I didn't want to spend too much) she told me "the front may well go soon, might as well do the lot!!"

    I love my mrs

£380 ish and I should get it all in three weeks - am going for the wider rim to fit a 140 section tyre.

Yep, I'll go with what the others said, http://www.central-wheel.co.uk/

Had them do the the front wheel of my AT, more than happy with the results.

Is that just for the rims/spokes or does that include building the wheel too?

Have you check out prices from your local bike shop? I asked at mine and was quoted around £170 to have the rear wheel rebuilt with an alloy rim & stainless spokes.

Yeah - spoke to Jim Aim (KTM dealer but really good) they use CWC anyway and reckoned they were as good as any for prices.

The chap who will build the wheels has done wheels for me before so I know I will get a good job. And he only charges about £20 a wheel.

Scratch that - will fit the standard size rear rim - keeps the bike "standard" and allows cheaper tyres. So will cost £353 all in plus the build.
