    17T Front Sprocket

    Hi Folks,
Anyone know where to get a 17T front sprocket for an RD07 on the interweb?
I've searched previous threads but links are dead, and google has only just bamboozled me.
    Cheers.

Ebay seller "twowheelspares" sells chain & sprocket kits for @. He can supply 17tooth.

Not treading on your toes BTBloke but I've just read about the shadow sprockets on Wemotos website and the figures they give for the hole centres are different. 55mm twin as for the the 44mm of the shadow. Perhaps I'm comparing the wrong year of bike though? C'mon guys, someone out there must have tried to fit other fronts....

I hope I'm wrong though BTBloke as I'd like a larger front on to save keep changing the rear sprocket.

Think I'll give the ebay seller a shout Treadtrader but I doubt it's the original Honda item with the rubber bush on the back. But you never know

The vt750 that use 17T as original, fits the AT.

Yep, that's the one i've been using for last two years, knocks 500 revs off top speed, makes for more relaxed touring even two-up.
It doesn't have the rubber shock absorber but i have'nt noticed any problems.

    Re: 17T Front Sprocket

My bike (an RD 07 AT) came with a 17t front fitted when I bought it. The guy selling it had fitted it to keep the revs down whilst touring. He used the bike on road only and was much lighter than me.
I have now done a few miles on the bike (400) and am getting the feel of it. Last Sunday I covered 300 miles, all on road and decided that the gearing was just too high for me. Fourth gear is just too high for a 40mph limit so you are constantly down to third and back up again when you want to pull away without labouring the engine. Same with 50 limits, I had to keep using fourth. There are so many locations where you have to be mindfull of the limits now. The higher gearing masked the benifits of roll on tourque.
Above 55 in fifth gear the bikes torque can certainly handle the gearing and 70 to 80 is fine.
I intend trying an original sprocket to see the difference. I also would prefer lower gearing for off road forays.
I have to say that the more I use this bike the more I realise why it has the reputation it deserves. It is a great bike. The ideal answer to me would be a 6th gear but this is a dual purpose / all rounder.
I know this isnt a reply to where to get a sprocket but I thought I would post my observations for interest.

    Re: 17T Front Sprocket

I just bought 17t sprocket, it is originally meant for Shadow. Splines are same as in twin BUT it doesen`t centre in same place as original does. In other words, distance from locking plates surface to teeths differs something like 2mm. This could be corrected by using washer plates between locking plate and sprocket.

I think this makes some twist to chain,
    any one noticed this?

Eliminate the risk of making a mistake.

B&C Express should be able to help you no problem, give them a call.
