RD03 and RD04 Paint Colour Codes

OK folks, I've seen this question asked a few times, and haven't really seen an answer, although there are a few lists of Honda colourcodes kicking around.

The good news is, I think I've cracked it, but this is mostly useful for us here in the UK, as I obtained the codes by comparing an RD03 side panel against some colourcharts available in the UK motorparts store "Halfords".

Halfords are only able to mix the paint on the two colourcharts they have for motorcycles, so the base colour for the RD03 and RD04, which is "Shasta White NH138" is not available, however the colours listed below compared VERY accurately to my (possibly slightly faded) side panel.

I got the codes from a "Palinal" colour code swatch, however the codes are universal, so could be mixed by anyone I guess.

DARK BLUE seems to match "Blue Scuro A899"

LIGHT BLUE seems to match "Blue Viola A896"

RED is either "Monza Red R110" or "Fighting Red R134"

WHITE NH138 is not available at Halfords, nearest match is "Gull White NH133"

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RD03 and RD04 engine side cases are POSSIBLY the following colour, also available from Halfords.

    "Bronzo Metallic H238 or H225"

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Halfords Prices, as of 10th April 2009

    300ml aerosol spray = £10.99

    500ml can of paint = £13.99

    1 litre can of paint = £24.99

I hope this is of some use to you.

Re: RD03 and RD04 Paint Colour Codes

Do colour codes really matter? When I asked the local paintshop/bodyshop about the tank on my AT they said that all they do is get a little sensor, hold it to the tank and get the colour match there and then. They spray the tank and give you a small pot for touch ups etc.
When I grow up ..... yeah right!

Y'see, I could say "You can go fast, I can go anywhere, Africa Twin" But you buggers have 'em as well so it would sound pretty lame .... oops!

Re: RD03 and RD04 Paint Colour Codes

    They do sort of...

If you're going to have the whole bike painted by a professional (or expensive!!) paint shop that has a scanner to work out the pantone, it's not so much a problem.

If you're living in nowheresville and don't have much dosh (but do have £11) and a Halfords nearby, you can easily touch up your own bike.

The problem (atleast for me!) up until now, is that there are Honda colourcode charts available online, but nobody has, so far, actualy worked out which colour "names" are on a RWB AT, so without the name, you can't look up the colourcode!

    Cheers
