    Adjusting rear shock rd07-HELP!!

tried to adjust the preload nut on my rear shock lastnight. I borrowed a c spanner to try an undo the castellated nut at the top - but it just wont budge...SOLID AS A BLOODY ROCK

Tried wd40 - and still nothing.... ended up buggering up one of the little castellted bits and gave up

any ideas anyone??- on my old shock i just smacked it with a big drift and a hammer and it was a nice simple job.

im thinkning that if i get a spiring clamp to take off some pressure from the spring itself

any ideas-dont know what to do??

    Hi R0vers

    How are you?

It would probably be safer and more productive to take the shock off allowing better access to the rings - 20 minute job at most

If that's not enough you could gently heat the locking rings with a small heat gun being careful not to damage the remote reservoires line

    Regards

    Paul

OK - OK OK - PROBABLY THE MOST STUPID THING EVER DONE ON THIS FORUM ALL YEAR!!!!

    GOD - WHAT AN IDIOT!!!

There i have been trying to wind down the nut on the shock - soaked it all in wd40 - still nothing - ended up taking the whole unit out of the bike lastnight - still wouldnt budge...

After an hour of swearing and covered in grease... i realised that i forgot to undo the actual adjusting nut/collar first - so all ive been doing recently is tightening up the nut against the collar!!! - FOOL!!!!

SO a quick undo of the locking nut -(which now looks like a cheese grater) - wound up the adjusting collar and re tightened the collar using the c spanner...(by the way an bmw1150 gs /1200gs C spanner fits the honda shock..)

all done and dusted.....!!!! - god i feel stupid- but also relieved now that its done!!!
